GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND APPLICATION TO AWARDS OR POSTER COMPETITION

1. Please note the size limits for the different types of entries.  For abstracts, the limit is 300 words, including the title, authors and affiliations, all of which are entered separately.  The type size must be no smaller than 12 pt.  For other materials, we have listed estimated word limits above the boxes in which they are to be entered, and absolute limits on the number of characters.  You will get an error message if an entry has too many characters, and you cannot re-submit it.  So, please use the Word Count function in MS Word to check the number of characters (including spaces) before submitting.

2. At the top of the submission site, you will need to check the type of abstract you are submitting -- poster, symposium talk, or keynote address.  If you are applying for a Young Investigator Award, we assume that you will want to submit a poster if you do not receive the award.  Please enter the information for the poster presentation, and a separate abstract below for the award application.  If you are selected as a Young Investigator, that abstract will replace the one for your poster.  You cannot present both.

3. Below the abstract submissions, you can apply for Poster, Travel, and/or Young Investigator awards (any combination of these).
However, if you received an award in the last two years, you cannot apply for the same type this year.

4.  Letters of recommendation (1 for Travel Award, 3 for Young Investigator) must be separately uploaded (by the people writing them) by the March 15, 5pm (US Eastern Time) deadline.   These will be copied from MS Word and pasted into text boxes, just like the other materials submitted.

5.  There is an email address on the site if you need help.  Messages will go to its developer, Chip Shank.  If you still need more information, you can email the Program Committee Chair, Nancy Forger (nforger@psych.umass.edu). Please do not wait until the last minute to submit your materials, in case you run into difficulties. ,No late materials will be accepted

Passwords:  The site is secure, and you will need a password to submit materials. For abstracts and award applications at the prompt for "applicant acess id" , enter 'SBN2006' . For letters of recommendation, enter 'letter'.

Deadline:  March 15, 5pm (US Eastern Time) for ALL materials.

The website for submitting abstracts and materials for awards is now open:
