Poster Suggestions
We encourage simple posters. You can simplify your poster by limiting the amount of text and using large font. Our experience is that most people don’t read much of the text anyway. People who are interested in detail can ask questions. See the sample poster on the website for a general example before you make your poster.
Consider adding (to that example) a very short summary section at the end that can be read quickly. There will be more than 80 other posters in the session, and you want to make sure that visitors to your poster get your message. A lot of text and a lot of details will scare away some people.
Your ending summary might include the essential features: Why did you do the study? Briefly, what did you find? Why should the reader be interested? Think “elevator talk”; make your points in the time it takes to ride an elevator, and try to convey your major points in 1-2 minutes.
For those of you in the poster competition, note that simplicity and clarity will be criteria for judging posters.
The poster boards are 4' high x 8' wide.
