East Lansing is adjacent to Lansing, the capital of Michigan. The Lansing airport is about 20 minutes from the MSU campus, and you can connect through Detroit on Northwest or Chicago on United. The Detroit Metro airport is about 80 minutes away by car. The Michigan Flyer provides bus service to downtown East Lansing from this airport (the stop is about a mile from the conference center, at the Marriott). It is sometimes less expensive to fly to Grand Rapids (about an hour away) or Flint (45 minutes), and these two airports have more connecting flights on more airlines than Lansing does (sorry).
One can also arrive by train from Chicago. East Lansing has an Amtrak station, on the western edge of campus.
If you are staying at the Kellogg Center and flying into the Lansing airport, you can arrange for complementary shuttle service by calling the hotel at 517-432-4000 or 800-875-5090 at least 24 hours before arrival. Taxis are available, but they are not plentiful. You might also find it useful to make a reservation with them ahead of time (Big Daddy Taxi; 517-367-7474). |
